Yannick grew up near Marseille in France paddling in the creeks. At the age of 15, he came across a book by Paul Emile Victor and this was the beginning of a long journey which shaped his passions for the Far North. During his studies of geography and geomorphology, his passions for the Arctic World of glaciers, icebergs and bears grew and grew. He spent his first summer as a guide in Spitsbergen in 2009 after passing his French Certificates of kayak competence and guiding; today his seasons are shared between Greenland and Svalbard.
Matthias loves outdoor activities; kayaking, climbing, ski-touring and mountaineering... After studying to become a guide, he was drawn to the Far North, attracted by the great open spaces and the raw power of the Arctic nature. With Altai Svalbard, his passions and profession have become one. He will take you hiking, dog sledding, snowshoeing or even climbing...
Mathieu grew up in the French Alps, hiking and skiing from a very young age. His attraction to large open spaces drew him originally to Norway where he fell in love with the North! After a trip through the vast Canadian wilderness, in 2016 he became a qualified polar guide. Now he shares his time between the French Alps, Finland, Norway and Spitsbergen. Whether hiking, dog sledding or kayaking, he is always delighted to pass on his knowledge and passion for the polar regions with his warm smile and bright blue eyes.
